Intergenerational Center

Friends for Life has created an Intergenerational Center located at 5000 Lakewood in Waco, Texas.

Our New Facility is the home for an adult day center, an early childhood education center and all of the services offered by Friends for Life to help the elderly and people with disabilities in Central Texas - legal guardianship services, money management assistance, programs to help them live independently and quality of life programs like Gifts for Grannies and Granpas, too, Adopt a Grandparent, Friends for Thanksgiving, Friendly Visiting, Telephone Reassusrance, and more. Soon, the charity will open its discount Christian bookstore in its new facility to fund its work.

This Intergenerational Center features a library, music room, computer lab, garden area and places for arts and crafts which will provide spaces where older adults and children can come together every day to read to one another, learn computers, art, music and gardening together. Friends for Life has been working for several years to accomplish its dream for this Intergenerational Center - studying adult day care, early childhood education centers and intergenerational programs from all over the world to find the best programming for this facility. The result is a unique facility that is already attracting people from other communities who want to create a similar center that fosters programs that bring older adults and children together. Friends for Life will continue to look for new ways to expand its ability to encourage healthy aging, promote successful early childhood development and create quality programs that serve the needs of our community.
